With the aim of creating a climate shelter, the Pont de la Machine building was transformed in three main ways:
1. The creation of a large central opening and the raising of the central floor to create a vertical air flow benefiting from the arrival of fresh air through the floor and the expulsion of warm air through the central chimney
2. The reinforcement of the wall insulation to ensure maximum separation of outside and inside temperatures
3. The installation of solar panels on the roof and partially on the facades to make the building self-sufficient in terms of energy and to take advantage of solar power principles.
